Building your business for prosperity is the best way to become successful and stay successful.
I have always said building a business is not a sprint it’s a marathon. However, admittedly, I am not one to talk because once I had a vision, I was like a race horse out of a gate. I was in a hurry to reach my goal. In some senses this was… good because I was excited and driven. In another sense, it was equally important that I remained patient, diligent, and disciplined. I needed to stay the course regardless of how long it took, and far after my enthusiasm waivered. This had to be a priority if my ultimate goal was to be successful.
My suggestion is to begin by setting small goals and establishing a time line for yourself. Make an outline for your project that includes a written draft plan and a loose timeline. Remember that situations may change so allow your plan and timeline to be modified in case you need to add in new items or eliminate unnecessary items. Flexibility is key when pursuing new endeavors.
The primary focus of the outline is that it should keep you organized. It will also prevent you from making mistakes and wasting valuable time. Keep in mind that we will always have a few mistakes when starting out, but remember, your goal is to create less work for yourself by being prepared.
Be ready to learn through this process. You want to stay leading edge with your ideas. Be open to new concepts and always welcome the prospect to grow through the process. Never develop tunnel vision because you may miss important information or opportunities.
My last piece of advice is very important. Challenge yourself to see the bigger picture when it comes to success. It’s not about today’s revenues nor is it about instant gratification. Be smart and set yourself up for the future because it comes fast.
View your career as an investment. Be patient and let it grow. Let it accumulate and flourish over time. Enjoy the growing years and work to thrive. Build your career or company through your accomplishments and trust me, then you will really enjoy it. When you can look back you want to be proud about what you have built and achieved. If at the end of the day, you can do that, I think you will agree with me, that is success
