Today I continue my series on wearing layers in the hair with a focus on short styles. There are so many beautiful looks for short hair these days. The pixie, the bob, and others. And, the best part is, don’t think for a moment that layers are off of the table if you are seeking to wear one of these styles.
Let’s start with one of my favorites; the Pixie cut. Pixies are a fun cut for those of you that want to remain or go short. They are also easy to mix layers into. This is a style that can be tailored to fit your facial structure; and often layers serve as the tool for accomplishing that. Even with layers, the style can be worn straight, sleek, or curly.
Choppy bobs and edgy bobs are also great styles for mixing in layers. Layers can be a great deal of fun if you want to wear your hair with natural curl, too. Know that some slight texturing can really give your short cut some extra movement as well.
The main thing to keep in mind when utilizing layers is that short cuts can be styled in as many different ways as longer cuts. With a little creativity, and a good stylist, there are a limitless-ways to wear the hair. All the looks can also be heightened with the use of products and accessorizing.
Products provide the perfect avenue for changing a look while accessories can set the tone for the look. For example, gel can be used to spike a shorter cut while serum can be distributed throughout the hair to create a sleek look. Likewise, mousse can be added for volume and movement. With accessories, headbands can create a completely different look from an ornate bobby pin.
On a final note, make sure to avoid over styling, it’s all about doing just the right amount to create a fun, edgy, look or a highly styled look. How about give both a try!
