The GRAMMYs may have the glamour but Coachella certainly has the glitter! With hours in the sunshine and warm dessert winds that graced the long days leading into the evenings, it was wonderful to be on the ground where my Artistic Team put their craft to work. As an invited guest to the Refresh House at Coachella, my team spent the first weekend of the world wide recognized event providing services to an A-list of headliner musicians that adorned five stages at the largest music festival in the United States.
The team was incredibly busy throughout the two day event, even having to turn away appointments. I had a wonderful time getting in the mix by overseeing some of the work and doing some of the cutting and styling myself. This was a special event for me because I was able to utilize my own product line; the BioGen Complex shampoo and conditioner, plus, the incredible CLUTCH hairspray. Guest were also gifted these items at the completion of their appointment. It was like giving the gift of a super multi-vitamin for the hair!
Yes, there was definitely some shampooing, cutting and blow drying going on, however, other services took center stage. Artist Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys was engaged in having my Art Team member Chelsea Alva cut and style his hair. Simultaneously, other Art Team members, Richie Roman and Chenille Pauls were busy utilizing dry shampoo, curling irons and braids to get Rilan’s dancers ready for an afternoon performance. Most client’s finished off with CLUTCH hairspray from my BioGen line.
Glitter was certainly the rage and was requested as an add-on to hairstyles as well as make up. Art Team member Heather Nitta did a fantastic job preparing multiple performers make up for stage appearances. Nitta created a beautiful fresh look for actress Emma Roberts that she completed with glitter. Richie Roman did finishing touches on Robert’s hair which emphasized her beautiful long locks.
As stated, glitter was definitely the premier highlight for hair, no pun intended. Regardless of if the hair had a soft beach wave or was styled into an updo or ponytail, glitter was a standard staple at the Coachella Music Festival.
The most popular styles were light weight, loose and care free with a hippie like appeal. Braids were everywhere along with naturally curly locks that were left alone to do their own thing. It was amazing that even under camping and no shower conditions, everyone left with their hair looking amazing, edgy and sexy. Well done Artistic Team, let the music begin!
