The ancient Romans coined the term ‘dog days of summer’ for the hottest, most humid days of the season. While we are all overheating with the hot and sticky weather, there are some great products that can help you get through the days feeling comfy and looking great. I have five favorites that are my best buddies on these sultry days of summer.
- Voloom Very Airy Beach Party Surf Spray ($19.95) – My hair is long and styling it is tricky in the summer. Sometimes when I try to blow dry it I end up sweating so much my hair never really dries. So I am a huge fan of sea salt sprays which give me easy beachy waves and let me skip the blow drying. The Voloom Very Airy Beach Party Surf Spray is my go-to this summer because it has low residue, which means I can spray on as much of the Surf Spray as I want and it won’t weigh down my hair. Ingredients include Sea Salt/Maris Sal – Therapeutic properties that is used as a natural moisturizing and conditioning agent, while adding thickness and volume to hair – and Macrocystis Pyrifera (Sea Kelp) Extract – Rich in polysaccharides and amino acids, sea kelp helps moisturize and smooth cuticles for shinier, healthier hair. It also has Keratin & Burdock Extract Heat-Activated Thermal Protection, so it’s great for hair – and simply spraying this onto wet or dry hair makes for easy breezy styling.
- Clutch Versatile Hair Spray ($32) – While I am not big on tons of styling when it’s hot and humid, I am big on hair products that make it easy to keep my hairdo from becoming a hair don’t. Clutch Versatile Hair Spray is pretty terrific. You can use it on wet or dry hair, and you can vary the amount of hold from flexible to hard. The big plus for dog days is this hairspray actually removes dirt and sweat from hair, which improves the health of your strands and also cuts down on congested skin at your hairline. The featured ingredient is biotin, a combination of vitamins B6/B5/B12, along with collagen. This treats hair making it more elastic and healthy. Collagen: Main component of the Biogen ™ complex. Repairs damaged cuticle layers improving suppleness and shine. Wheat Protein: Repairs the cortex improving overall strength and preventing future damage. Replenishes lost protein caused from abusing our hair daily. Peptides: Repairs weak strands and creates a barrier to prevent damage caused by excessive use of heat, brush/comb friction and environmental stresses. Clutch Versatile Hairspray leaves my hair shiny and full. It has a fine spray that is buildable for hold that truly lasts all day. Plus a percentage of every product sold goes towards cancer research. I think it’s the perfect hairspray for hot, humid days.
- Golden Door Golden Face Oil ($48) – No way am I going to slather my face with heavy moisturizing cream when it’s so hot I’m sweating in places I didn’t even know I had. Golden Door Golden Face Oil is a wonderfully luxurious face oil that tackles fine lines and wrinkles with an elegant formula that isn’t greasy or heavy. It has excellent antioxidant ingredients:
ROSE HIP OIL – Vitamin-rich and packed with omega, skin looks smoother, plumper, and lessens the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and premature aging.
