For many of us that have been in the industry for decades like me,there are a variety of items that I am always sure to have in my salon. Some I may use more frequently than others, while a few I might use every now and then. Either way, these are items that I must have to perform successfully.
So, let’s start with the basics. If you’re cutting, coloring or doing just about any hair service, then you must have a good shampoo and conditioner on hand. There are several good ones on the market, however, I recommend the wet line I designed by-Gina because it not only cleanses, it’s a super multivitamin for the hair that restores it by providing the proper nutrients necessary for long term hair health.
Moving on, we definitely need very good shears if we are cutting hair. There are many types of shears I think everyone should have a good basic pair of shears, texturizing shears and razors in the cabinet. More basics include; combs, capes, brushes, picks, hair clips and even rollers. All come indifferent sizes and are utilized to create different looks. Make sure to have a few in each category.
When it comes to products, I always keep on hand mousse, avolumizer, gel, straightening serum, finishing spray and styling spray. However,I also have to keep the products I need for providing services includingbleaches, hair dyes, frosting caps, foil, straighteners and perm products. Ilike to have some deep conditioning and shine products on the shelf as well.
We also all need a good set of tools. For me this means a blow dryer, curling iron, flat iron, curling wand and styling brush. Again, these come in various sizes that you can collect over. I like infrared technology when seeking out a good tool. Infrared technology locks the moisture in the hair keeping the hair healthy and beautiful while styling it. Try my Tools By Gina line if you’re interested.
Finally, don’t forget your cleaning products. Everyone loves a clean salon and you want folks coming back!
