Here’s my Tip of the Week: Spring is the perfect time to clear your mind and get ready for new beginnings. I do this by organizing my work space and clearing out the clutter. Goodbye to the old and in with the new. I organize in two ways, first I organize my paperwork and second I organize the tools of my trade.
Now granted, this may be different for each person depending upon what you do so, here’s what I recommend; Go through paperwork. If there are items in drawers that you don’t use and don’t need eliminate or archive them. Get rid of business cards that you know that you will never put to use and organize the ones that you may need or may want in the future. Likewise, go through client cards, update them, perhaps make new cards or folders and get ready for the remainder of the year.
In the beauty industry, we have a lot of tools that we use from brushes to blow dryers. I recommend looking at each item to determine if you need to do maintenance or if you should replace them. If you need to replace pricey items, then create a schedule for doing so in order to minimize taking on the expense all at once. Though I am discussing the beauty industry, this can really be applied to any industry where tools are required.
Finally, do a deep clean of your work space. Get in there and use a little elbow grease. This may even mean a new coat of paint and cleaning items with soap and water. Do whatever it take to make your space sparkle like new. I guarantee you, once you do, you will feel like new as well. So, what are you waiting for, springtime is upon us!
